WISCONSIN WINTER WEDDING WEEKEND ACTIVITIES

Saturday, December 26, 2015

Whether you are having your wedding in the city, the bluffs or somewhere in the north woods, Wisconsin winters have plenty of recreational activities to keep your out of town guests busy when wedding events are not taking place. You can create a list of all these optional activities and stuff them in your wedding invitations, list on your wedding website or include in their hotel welcome bag. You don't have to pay for these activities but could list the price range next to it so they have a general idea. Here are a few Wisconsin favorites guests seem to love the most.

Located just 20 miles outside of Madison in Prairie du Sac, Wollersheim Winery & Distillery offers tours, wine tastings and beautiful views of the bluffs. In 2015, a distillery was added, which currently distills 5 various family crafted spirits you can also taste and enjoy while you are there.

With Wisconsin being home to beer and cheese, there are so many great local breweries to tour and taste. New Glarus Brewing Co. is a favorite of many, located 41 miles southwest of Madison in New Glarus, WI known best for it's Spotted Cow. There is also Ale Aslyum, the Great Dane, Capitol Brewery, Lake Louie Brewery, Next Door Brewing Co, Dells Brewing Co, Miller Coors, Leinenkugel's Brewing Co, Stevens Point Brewery and Lakefront Brewery to name a few.

A mini Rockefeller Plaza can be found right in the heart of downtown Madison, located at The Edgewater. The outdoor Grand Plaza is turned into an ice skating rink during the winter months to enjoy ice skating, Christmas tree lighting or a hot toddy from the Ice House. Ice skates are available to rent onsite for guests, whether they are staying right there at the hotel or at another nearby downtown hotel.

Overture Center for the Arts, a stunning landmark in Madison's thriving cultural arts district, is a performing arts center and art gallery that opened in 2004. If you want to take in a broadway show or watch the Madison Symphony Orchestra, this is located right on State Street within walking distance from numerous downtown hotels, bars and restaurants.

Guests can escape into luxury at award winning Sundara Inn & Spa; a tranquil and relaxing adult only destination spa; nestled among the beautiful pines in the Wisconsin Dells. It features 16 treatment rooms, indoor bathhouse with Purifying Bath Ritual, quiet Relaxation Lounge with a curving wall of windows overlooking the resort, outdoor infinity pool heated year-round, conversation-free Tranquility Garden patio adjacent to the pool, tranquil Meditation Trail in the woods, culinary dining area and off-site fitness facility.
