garden party backyard party summer party

If you are thinking of inviting a few friends over this summer, dazzle them with a backyard garden party. It doesn't have to be elaborate or a formal affair either. Serve up some cold finger foods and appetizers to munch on, provide a drink station of wine, margaritas or maybe some sangria to sip on. The options are endless! I had a really fun time doing this styling shoot one evening and luckily, finished just in the nick of time before a severe storm rolled in. A special thanks to my assistant, Deb a.k.a. my Mom for helping me style this.

I shot this in a pretty garden I grew up in, right in my parent's backyard. As a little girl, I use to dream of having a beautiful walk through garden, so my Dad custom built this arch trellis years ago.

With it being summer, I decided on some bright pops of color, creating bright pink peonies and wild rose centerpieces, along with some pretty in pink tableware and drinkware.  I found some empty wine bottles of different heights to use for the pink blooms or you can also use wine glasses or mason jars. It doesn't have to break the bank, so finding cute practical items around the house to use comes in handy!

Adding some string bulb lights will help create that soft ambience, especially as it gets closer to dusk.

Adding additional soft lighting brings so much beauty to any backyard. All you need are some white votives and a few mason jars.

A little vino, anyone? Use a mirror tray to fill with wine glasses and some wine to offer to guests.

You can't forget the bug spray, especially if you are near a wooded area.
